Part of my work has always involved training the next generation in particular in performing for screen and stage. The Rules of Dogs and Men was an opportunity to work with Toi Whakaari (NZ Drama School) graduating acting students alongside my writer/filmmaker brother Jim.

What evolved is The Rules of Dogs and Men shot at the Petone dog track – now demolished – and featuring the extraordinary seaside town of Petone just before its gentrification.
