Running Theatre at Large was one of the highlights of my theatre career

Anna co-founded and ran Theatre at Large with Christian Penny and Heather Lee from 1990-1997 writing and directing both new work and classics. King Lear with Ian Mune, Rachel House and Miranda Harcourt, Manawa Taua/Savage Hearts with Cliff Curtis and Rachel House, Cyrano de Bergerac with Jacob Rajan and Cameron Rhodes are just some of their acclaimed productions. These works toured across New Zealand and internationally to festivals.

Anna created Ship Songs with Ian Hughes and Don McGlashan which toured NZ extensively. She has directed for the Auckland Theatre Company, The Edge, NZ Opera, Taki Rua, The International Festival of the Arts, The Perth Festival, the Adelaide World Theatre Series as well as teaching at Universities and Drama schools both in NZ and Australia. Anna has been involved in community grass roots projects from Invercargill to Whangarei developing, creating, devising and performing theatrical works with many different communities across many different ages and cultures. Anna trained as an actor at Ecole Philippe Gaulier.

Anna’s recent work includes Hotel Europa created with Designer Kasia Pol and written by Goran Stefanoski. In 2018 Anna wrote and directed Kupe for the opening event of the NZ Festival. Kupe was part of WAKA ODYSSEY. (see previous project)
